Lithuania ~ Nemunas Delta

Aukštumala is not an object of study but a living collaborator: A raised bog-being, a breathing intelligence that has shaped and been shaped by the Baltic landscape for over 9,000 years. Spanning more than 3,000 hectares between Lake Krokų Lanka and the rivers Tenenis and Minija in the Nemunas Delta, Aukštumala is a geological and biological entity, a palimpsest of time and matter. Layer upon layer of peat records millennia of climate, vegetation, and human presence, composing a slow archive of transformation.
