The Sensing Peat art and research network involves local and global artists, activists, groups and initiatives who see themselves as guardians of their peatlands and the ecological, social, political and cultural values associated with them.

PEAToresk: Artistic Perspectives on the Drained Peatland Meadows Near Greifswald

On the occasion of the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich and the 25th anniversary of the Michael Succow Foundation in Greifswald, we are offering four artistic workshops with artists Juliane Tübke & Alison Darby, Siljarosa Schletterer, as well as Lene Schwarz and Anett Simon from May 25 to September 8, 2024.

ṵo°rǵ. Word of Peatlands by Jasmina Al-Qaisi

Jasmina Al-Qaisi's work is intended as an intervention into the language in which peatlands are usually described. She curiously asks: "Can one read, taste and be with an ṵo°rǵ ?" After spending 80 hours on the island of Koos and speaking to numerous scientist, she is producing a soundscape that will be published on April 30, 2024.
