The Sensing Peat art and research network involves local and global artists, activists, groups and initiatives who see themselves as guardians of their peatlands and the ecological, social, political and cultural values associated with them.

PEAToresk: Artistic Perspectives on the Drained Peatland Meadows Near Greifswald

On the occasion of the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich and the 25th anniversary of the Michael Succow Foundation in Greifswald, we are offering four artistic workshops with artists Juliane Tübke & Alison Darby, Siljarosa Schletterer, as well as Lene Schwarz and Anett Simon from May 25 to September 8, 2024.

Jasmina Al-Qaisi articulates and performs known and unknown forms of language, alphabets and phonetics. In spring 2024, Jasmina spendsa few days on the small island of Koos and the Karrendorf meadows to get to know the nature reserve area which is mostly characterised by coastal flooding marshes. Shortly before the birds’ spring migration and breeding seasons will start, for instance for brood parasitic avocets, the flickering lapwing or the gender fluid ruff, the poet indulges into the sounds, smells, sponges of the largely uninhabited natural reserve.
